Here we are again,
ready to start anew.
But with every person you know,
the less wanted you feel.

Like the leaves in a field of flowers,
nobody remembers you.
Like the thorns among the roses.
nobody wants you.

I just wish someone knew,
how I can be loved too.
I just wish someone saw,
that I'm here too.

You knew beginnings were scary,
because you're starting anew;
Nothing left from the past,
nothing left of you.

The last door closes on you,
and the key never to be found;
Starting from a blank slate,
every mistake stays like a scar.

And with every mistake,
you become wiser;
You learn to see a different view,
of the beginning you feared,
the ones you thought you knew.

Beginnings are exciting,
because you're starting anew;
Nothing left from the past,
Nothing left of you.

The next door opens for you,
and the key always in your palm;
Starting from a blank slate,
every attempt marks a start.

And with every attempt,
you become braver.
You learn to see from a different view,
maybe beginnings aren't bad,
It's just different from what you knew.

A few weeks ago,
When I was that same broken girl,
I would have asked you to come back.
Come back to me,
Like the tides that came back to shore;
Because the tides couldn't bear to leave once and for all.

But right now,
Even though I'm still broken,
I ask of you never to come back.
For you've fallen in love,
With a girl who is beautiful and pure;
So love her as much as the tides that came back to shore.

But this time,
Stay.

Forever, you said.
You said you'd love me forever.
You promised.

As long as you stay, you said.
You said you would stay if I did.
You promised.

No lies, you said.
You said you trust me if I trust you.
You promised.

Forever has only just begun,
And I never left,
Never tried to lie to you,
But you couldn't care less.

Don't make promises you can't keep, they said.
So promise me,
you won't make the same mistake?

Can you keep a secret?

Don't tell anyone,
I like you.

You are quiet.
You are too scared to open up.
Because they don't care.
Because they never understood.
Because they will leave.

But I like you.
You are quiet.
You opened up to me.
Because I care.
Because I understand.
Because I won't leave.

And I didn't.

Now go tell everyone,
You left me.

You asked me:
"Are you afraid of the dark?"
And I said, "Maybe."

Maybe I'm afraid,
because I don't see my hands
And I no longer know what I'm holding on to.

Maybe I'm afraid,
because I don't see my feet
And I no longer know where I'm going.

Maybe I'm afraid,
because I don't see myself
And I no longer know who I am.

But most of all,
Maybe I'm afraid,
because I don't see you anymore.

So am I afraid of the dark?
No, until I lose you in it.

She was broken,
And so were you.
But you forgot,
I was broken, too.

She was who you needed,
And she needed you.
But you forgot,
I needed you, too.

She was there for you,
And you for her.
But you forgot,
I was there first.

She was a friend to you,
As much as you were to her.
But you forgot,
She is my friend too.

Now, all she sees is you;
And you, her.
But you forgot,
I'm watching you, too.
