I died the night before you met me
But you picked me up
Gave me a new life
I fell in blood,
And awoke on a cold table
It hurt at first,
But I have a second chance
All because of you

“Sorry”….
Such a pitiful
Word sounds so
Pathetic, why
Yes
I am
Alone
Every night
And always when
I turn around
Slow dancing in
A pool of memories
Wells up
Inside a soul
‘The heart of everything’
A song we used to sing
Along together
And now we sing alone
Apart; asunder
Still I’m so
Sorry

I could never be
What you wanted

Forgive me
Time seems to change everything
People,places,things
but you haven't changed a bit
and for some strange reason
I'm in love with that fact
It's good to know that time can't
diminsh a great sense of humor

Mosséd trees stand in respect,
a moment of silence.
Still breathing
but stillness dwells.
In amongst the green
a catharsis of orangey-red shades.
The Japanese maple poised,
chest puffed,
arms elegant.
Sight unstirred.

Silently and scrupulously looking at my dad for a minute, I asked,
"What is it like to get old?"
He turned his attention away from the computer screen
Met my gaze
Took a deep breath in, and began,

"You don't realize just how fast life goes by, until it's gone.
One day, you look in the mirror, and realize that twenty years have gone by.
It's a different person in the mirror than what you expected.
Some days, I look at your mother
And it feels like I've only known her for a few months.
Other days I look at her, and she's just so different from the woman I met.
We've grown and changed so much together.
I am, to this day, learning new things about her,
And all of them make me love her more.
Yeah, she can't cook for ****, and she talks in tangential circles
Which I just can't keep up with.
But since day one I was smitten with her.
And to this day I'm surprised that she actually chose
To spend the rest of her life with me.
Getting old with the right person makes getting old bearable."
Whenever somebody would ask my mother how her day was, she would respond,
"Getting better, just like fine wine."
Now I know why.
I feel this undying need
to bring myself to a higher plane
my mind a run away train
that managed to veer off track
only to be redirected
and brought back to center

Peace is the moment we
find our way back
to the path that suits us
and I am sprinting breathlessly
in a desperate attempt to salvage

Once again regaining the strength
to repair and purify
with nothing other than growth in mind
our internal battles are most brutal
but fighting them is surely time well spent
The only war I believe in
I heard a cry in the night,
A thousand miles it came,
Sharp as a flash of light,
My name, my name!

It was your voice I heard,
You waked and loved me so—
I send you back this word,
I know, I know!

Like love, know that time lies,
Heart in the day want feel away
Night make world say don't words think.

I'm mind little things light.
Don't long man face look left, right
Tell people need good soul.
Lost sun, hand place hands new pain.
Old inside smile.

Remember full sky,
God hope days cold.
Ill thing live,
tears black leave dreams.

Oh skin, air, gone past lips.
New thoughts can't far white,
Going beautiful dream.
Girl goes deep, your sleep stop.

Hail that lovely laughter juice.
I just noticed some of the words in the trending words section seemed to correspond well together, and in a way sort of made "semi-sense". Some of it I have altered, for example, words like "knew" I changed to "new", to add a little more meaning to the line.

The last line comes from a short medley of words I put together using big fridge magnets in the Tate Gallery in London. I felt it would be a suitable closing for the poem.
