Serena Rose Mar 2013
another poem for you
the first was a sweet and giddy affair
the second was confused
the third one was angry and bitter
and now i dont know what to do

we weren't even serious
but now im seriously disturbed
i dont miss who you were
and i dont miss what you said
the problem is oh so mysterious

but what you did, though unknowingly,
was give me a glimpse
of what love
(though we had none)
might turn out to be

so thanks for the preview
i really enjoyed the show
the credits roll down
stanza by stanza
line by line, there is no part two
thats all folks

am i using you?
or are you using me?
i just can't tell anymore

is any of this real?
i never could see
if i mean to you what you meant to me

meant, past tense, because the feeling is gone
im just sitting here waiting for everything to go wrong
but it already has, though we've barely begun

and darling, i don't love you
and darling, i never did
and darling, i never will

so please don't take it personally
when i use you like you use me
i know you're my boyfriend, but i don't know why

i was awkward
and so were you
we sat by the window
not knowing what to do
it was my first kiss
it was yours too
the first try was pathetic
but then on take two
i was done being scared
i just wanted you
and unlike my words
my lips weren't untrue
Serena Rose Dec 2012
this can't be true
this must be wrong
this isn't how it should have gone
you were the one who would be broken
consumed by me, unable to move on
i was untouchable
you were dependent
i was loved
you were caring
i became weak
you grew strong
i built you up
you tore me apart
and now its me with the broken heart.
Serena Rose Nov 2012
her terrible glare
burning with intensity
eyes that could set you aflame
the passion in her gaze
the deafening silence
hate, hate, hate
that’s all there was
and nothing more
but his blind eyes would never see it
Serena Rose Nov 2012
Green, wandering eyes
Beneath the smooth brown sheet of hair
With lashes so light at the tips
Looking upward at the sky

A sarcastic comment
On her pink, round lips
Still chapped from the cold
Of a brisk winters day

It was the face of someone young
Free of wrinkles and scars
Someone ready to face the world
Someone who looked an awful lot like me
Serena Rose Nov 2012
the bright lights sparkling
filling up the night sky
the fishy scent of the ocean
so strong you can taste it on the air
the cars in the city
sound so far away
and i smile happily,
as a gentle breeze
whispers through the humid air
i can feel the city in my heart
