Thump, thump...
I'm here, I'm here,
But where is everyone else?
Thump, thump...
My heart beats alone,
Nervous, compulsive,
In a house where no one's home.
Hello? Is anyone there?
No one answers,
Not even echoes in the air.
Thick layers of dust
Veil the furniture
Like an ugly bride,
Soon to be widow in which
No one takes pride.
Oh, Apollo, Aphrodite,
Arrive in time
And show me how to be.
The silence is coming,
It's coming for me,
To swallow me whole
And spit out my bones.
It's coming for me,
It's coming for me!
Where are you Aphrodite?
Where once there were memories
Now lay enemies in the dark,
In which fear lives to haunt,
And love sits in taunt,
My innocent imploded heart
Which lay in tatters on the rug
Of ugly green,
Beside my father's rocking chair,
Still rocking on it's own,
Eerily as if he'd just gotten up.
Maybe a ghost of what was,
Doing what it does
And as it's always done.
Oh Aphrodite,
After ages and eons
You've arrived too late,
With too little to say,
My fear has eaten,
And now I live alone,
As bare bones with no hope,
As a skeleton of stone.

Pitter, Patter (08.28.12)
Sean Florick Aug 2012
I could sleep beneath this waterfall,
Beneath water so hot
That it feels so cold,
Or maybe…
Water so cold that it feels so hot,
The pittering and pattering
Drowns the noise inside my head.
Pitter, patter,
Against the back of my ears,
Oh, how I love the sound,
Of pitter, patter,
Pitter, patter,
As the droplets hit the ground.

I Miss Our Love (08.24.12)
Sean Florick Aug 2012
I miss our barren desert
With nothing to quench our thirst,
Where there was maybe one
Tree to sit beneath
And read quietly to ourselves
With a few bare branches
And one lonely leaf
To catch the sunshine.

I miss that clock without hands
When hours passed blindly,
While our heads laid in bed
Sunk beneath pillows
And our bodies twisted
Together beneath sheets
Like a candy cane
Glued together with sugar,
So sweet, so sweet
We rotted our teeth.

“Good morning beautiful girl,
Let’s never let this end.”
And we tried our best,
We tried to make it last.
Like those last few pages
Of a really great book,
We read slower and slower,
As we knew we were hooked.

I miss that hole we dug together
Digging day and night
Every night and every day,
Deeper and deeper,
Darker and darker,
But always together.
Dirt piled high from side to side
I’m not really sure
What we were trying to hide.

I miss our hopeless love,
Our naivete and passion,
We both always knew
That we’d never get better,
But at least we knew
We were always together.

(Ferocity,)
These beasts beneath me
Aren’t just for running away,
But also running through
And keeping my enemies at bay

(Endurance,)
They keep me going strong
As my legs move along,
As my feet hit the ground
To every beat of the song

(Motivation,)
They allow my mind to keep focus
On things that lie ahead,
And learning from what’s behind
And every word that’s been said

(Determination,)
They help me work through the pain
Through the burn of exhaustion,
Though step after step
It might seem more often

(Power,)
And my heart and soul
Is what holds all the power,
The power of love
And the power to devour.

Sun and Moon (08.16.12)
Sean Florick Aug 2012
Black widow spiders
Devour the Sun,
The Moon man's work is almost done

Eight legs scurry
Over here and there,
The light of Sun could only dare

To show his rays
In the ever bold face,
Of the dark night's lore and it's weaving lace

Weaved spittle spines
As spiders crawl,
Furry legs, white stripes and all

The Moon, he spreads
Diamonds over sky,
Lighting the night as lightning bugs fly

Clouds roll in
And clouds roll out,
Sparing the night and Moon their pout

"Much thanks to you,"
Moon says to the clouds,
"If you'd stayed around I wouldn't be found."

He waves them off,
Chuckles some spite,
"I'm the fame of every starry night."

But the real truth is
The Sun is the star,
Lighting the Moon from behind and afar.

Brothers they are
In day and night,
Keeping sweet Earth in dark and light.

Wonderland (08.12.12)
Sean Florick Aug 2012
Oh, what have we here?
A new road I can see,
Where upon restless rocks
Lay rusted metal keys,
To open the gates,
And quickly so quietly,
Make my escape.
I walk through the fence
To have my sight blur,
And the world I once knew
No more the world I prefer.
A few steps further,
Something stops the time,
And without much thought,
I feel my heart unwind,
From a place of fear
To a place undefined,
In this place here,
I just might find...
Within grows delight,
So further I proceed,
Wandering in Wonderland,
So wonderful indeed.
Through a jungle made of vines
And wistful white, tigers eyes,
Trees adorning blue
And greener are the skies.
Wafting in the air,
Floating through the trees,
A plump pumpkin spice
And light lavender bees,
Making their way
Through fresh morning breeze,
Over the Rushing River
And between Sahara's Seas.
It's summer year 'round
In such sweet Wonderland,
Where beauty is found
In every sight and every sound.
Where clocks never tick,
And mules never kick,
Where music never stops,
And balloons will never pop.
Beyond the white gate
I've made my escape,
Near Sahara's Seas,
And the skies colored green.
Where the lavender bees
Live in blue bashful trees,
Between jungle vines
And the tiger's white eyes.
To say I've gotten lost
Would be a lavish lie,
But I couldn't care less,
As I float into the sky.

Senseless (08.03.12)
Sean Florick Aug 2012
The beauty of the world
lay before me,
but I am blind;
I cannot see

the voices of help are
directed toward my ears,
but I am deaf;
I cannot hear

the hands of comfort
are perched on my skin,
but I do not
feel a thing

the smell of peace in a
green gracious garden,
is fully, factually,
unknown to me

the taste of victory, unable
to penetrate my tongue;
which dried up
long ago

no help has been helpful,
no hand has been grasped,
all things righteous,
never even passed

my nerves are dead,
my face,
sags down to the ground,
my limbs are limp and my heart
cannot be found

I am left an empty shell,
all life ****** out and soul
sunk down to hell.

One Sweet Dream (08.01.12)
Sean Florick Aug 2012
My heart it beats, right through my eyes,
Burning with desire and all that lies
Beneath your skin, much softer than mine
So soft it seems, to slow down time

Heart to heart and hips to hips,
Down your sides, run my fingertips
Feel the heat, the sweet smell of sweat
As we grow entangled the closer we get

Skin to skin and lips to lips
Down my sides, run your fingertips
Taste the salt and hear the rain
With nothing to lose and all to gain

Face to face we share our lives
We come together like twisting twine
Sharing our strength and so much more
But what, I ask, is all this for?

It’s just a dream; I’ve had of you,
A dream, it seems, will never do
Maybe I’m just, a sunlight gleam,
But I’ll keep dreaming, this one sweet dream.

Who Are You? (07.28.12)
Sean Florick Jul 2012
Who are you my vivacious queen?

I know where I’ve been

I Know what I’ve seen

You were once very sweet

Now selfish and mean

To do such things

To my poor old heart

Wouldn’t you know…

You were just playing a part

Your majesty, the court,

I declare, here on forth

My heart is locked up tight

Held in solitary

Because it likes to fight

It loves a good scrap

But it’s in love with the light

What to do, what to do?

My lovely queen, who are you?

Sweet Dreams (07.27.12)
Sean Florick Jul 2012
Lay your head

Down to sleep,

Dream sweet dreams

And count some sheep,

Billows of pillows

And warm cotton sheets,

Tonight you’re in

For a special treat,

I’m on your mind

And caught in your head,

Very, very soon

I’ll be in your bed,

Stars in the sky

And man in the moon,

This night I’ll dream

Of your beauty too,

So close your eyes

And fly with the breeze,

Tonight you’ll sleep

And be dreaming of me

My Lucky Eyes (07.22.12)
Sean Florick Jul 2012
I can’t find the words

For they’ve escaped my mouth,

And now in the air

They’re wandering about,

Wondering who you are

Hovering ’round the Moon

Have you come too far?

Have we met too soon?

Though, you look so well

And you seem just as swell,

How were my eyes so lucky?

As upon your bright beauty they fell.

This Is a Dream (07.23.12)
Sean Florick Jul 2012
I can’t quite make it out

Whether dream or real,

My thoughts run about

Like merry-go-rounds

And ceiling fans

Like lineage of kings crowns

I choose to believe

Whether dream or real

So my heart may feel relief

By comfort almost forgotten

Between love and loss

But has again begotten

— The End —
