Inspiration
Samuel May 2010
Sit alone, forgotten room
An empty piece of paper
You clear your mind, blow out the smoke
And open yourself to thought
A minute passes, an hour
Begin to wonder if it will ever return
And then it does
Hand grasps at pencil
Words flowing out of your head
Fill one page, then another
So many thoughts, all rushing
To get out, to be heard
Inspiration has left its mark
On you
You will not forget its touch
Ache in its absence
Revel in its light
It is you, and you are
A part of it.

My Wishes (11.20.2010)
Samuel Nov 2010
If only wishes came true.
I know they do sometimes become reality, but personally I consider that to be nothing more than chance
I guess what I'm after is

If my wish had substance
If I could ask for something right now
And be certain that it would be

I would wish

I had the courage to tell you what I thought of your smoking and your drinking before it led you to where you are now

Maybe I could have stopped it.

I would wish

I told you how much you meant to me, had that conversation with you before the world fell apart for you

Maybe you would still be here.

I would wish

These wishes had the power to change something.

Sam Saves The World
Samuel Jul 2017
The problem with our planet
(at least what we currently face)
is one of ceaseless travel,
indifference to space

Do trees protest their rootings?
Do ants fall out of line?
Yet our minds tend to wander, it
happens all the time

If only we could focus, but
our energies disperse
how easily we trail off into
arguably worse

It's not globalization
or the fault of the night news
it's all the me's forgetting
the importance of the you's

Strike up a conversation, and
acknowledge what's around
how else will your new neighbor
learn to bake that lovely pound

cake?
I couldn't resist.
