a link to break away your thought
may not be found in everyday musings
look higher or lower... in dusty books
or secret places and undiscovered  nooks

your search as needed and wanting
could solve your days need
or even longer term desire
may have already been tossed into the fire

so be it, but just wait a bit...
more of it! comes to a determined mind
keep on seeking and making your way
before you know it, it could take just one more day

deride, deceive...
  your almighty dreaded crumbling path
escalate and receive
  momentary gifts unrivaled wrath

what stays straight
  ignoble, steadfast illuminated so bright
turn back now, ... or wait?
foaming clouds in darkest night

I heard tales of unmet joys
rivals of men and chances
faced with anger and misguided ploys
far away passions, angry glances

thousands of days shackled together
pomp and passions unruly tools
lying in pastures amidst golden heather
all made and sealed for irreverent fools

supper done
  eyes cast
here
   then
  there
cerulean rain... dropping violet

melodic
     piano tickles
and smoothed out bed sheets
soft serpentine
moves stretched arms
up high
      dried iris and begonias... fall

Sunday
        will also come
  filled with
turned pages
and folded things

songs of shepherds
sweet stark
nakedness
  honed
     soft corners...
   ruby red
places
shudder to
      think
not caressed and
sweat, and breath laughing smiles and
lips
lingering
   with eyes
            deeply set
as a rudder
on course
      to...  all purpose, the ancients
        and joy
              the heart... a bottomless
place.

not now, maybe later... forget about it
don't hash over that nonsense again
dispose of it right away... lickity split

trash it, smash it, loose it somewhere
it's old, out of date, irrelevant
just do it....how?... I don't care

in a moment it will be plain enough
just do what I say...
yes right now... and no guff!!

it seemed so okay
yeah, I know, I see what you mean
but you'll have to get rid of it anyway

pack it up... it's over, you know what to do
you really mean it huh?
you heard me right, it ain't up to you

glowing bright as a midnight star
a daughter strong as a towering oak
that's what I am getting... her name is Tahlia
wrapped in curls and manners bespoke

for me, her siblings and mother
frames filled with awards and recognition
we all know she is like no other
with focus, determination, and erudition

skills self-taught she crafts and smiles
folding, sewing, painting... singing away
her manner is engrossed as she beguiles
then off she goes all ready for play

not six, not twenty, just eleven in years
so knowing, and caring... always ready
"honey, can you find"... she's already up the stairs
her wit and knowledge are amazingly heady

a joy, a triumph to be called her "Dad"
I stop always to do whatever she'll ask
that is the way to guide and show her how glad
to know for me it's an honor... never a task

my heart is airy as a feather in flight
I have now striven what I wished to write...
tender words of joyous fun
a path so pleasantly traversed, is now done

recounting perceptions of your wondrous ways
robustly enchants all my days
no matter for now, I can't squeeze you tight
or whisper a sweet kiss and say good night

your smiles ****** and voices resound
for you are all here... so easily found
Hayden's sharp wit,  Klyan’s elegant surprise
Thalia's wiggly walk, mommies deep, opal eyes

inscribed here is my love with fervent sigh
permanent as sun in the morning sky
let’s dream on together... it's already fall
in a time soon to come, I will embrace you all

For Hayden Enan...
smartness resides in his vibrant smile
when he speaks always linger awhile
soundly imagined... so brightly lit
beguiling in his engaging wit

of cosmos and wonders so very bold
far from his years, distanced from old
eyes aglow... filled with challenging delight
entranced and sparked by ideas so bright

happily witnessed, abundant with joy
his father’s dreamboat, our big, big boy
with his mind and days complex and laden
one is always in awe, here comes... Hayden

For Kylan Kafu...
words with aplomb and consummate wit
wondrous imaginations, so readily fit
of galaxies, action heroes, his peachy sis
tendered and nuanced he's never remiss

stay still, listen up and hear him well
ready with buoyant laughter to tell
sit glorified in his iridescent smile
a charm, a goose, a country mile

face, a visage of handsome gone wild
our daily amazement, this extraordinary child
knowing and caring, what right to do
a joy to behold, our precious Kylu

For Tahlia Lehsan...
sleeping like an angel, she awakes a princess
with crystalline eyes and smiling caress
now off with her brothers, her day to whirl
my joyously strong, bounding big girl

“it’s my way or the highway”, she’ll give you the choice
with directness and surety in powerful voice
running to claim another best place to be
comfy chair, mommy's lap... under that tree

calling out “Hayden”, “Kylan” “time to play”
pantomime, dance, and songs fill her day...
wonder and delight, her name ends in “ahhh”
ablaze in curls, our beautiful Tahlia

For  Elvire...
here's mother, mom, earth, morning and all
guiding strength and total recall
beautiful, erudite... smiles that ignite
seeking, spinning to all our delight

a gaggle of yes, nos, dancing and song
packed bags, hot plates... “let's move along”
an heiress of style and eminent grace
wrapped so deftly in burgundy and lace

voluptuously tall flowing gait...
hurried and dabbled, she’s worth the wait
how fortunate am I sharing one so near
a symphony of bests... my dearest Elvire

morning

the dew was frosty
looking through thin cotton drapes
the sun opened them

noon

shimmering heat waves
nice cold drinks all around now
play and giggles too

dusk

orange pink purple
put on a comfy sweater
eat under the stars

here eyes woke with smiles
I said good morning... sleep well?
yes! and so did you
Robert Gretczko Sep 2016
I left behind a veiled array of pleasure
could it be regained all... or in some measure
the surety passion, lust, and romance
once unnerved, violated had no chance

so tender was her glance at first sight
more remarkable... seeming astute and right
her rose so tantalizingly in bloom
radiance and allure filled every room

a mind and method of sinewy intellect
while mumbling and fumbling... I did expect
time to host this remarkable splendor
remorseful sorrow... I had caused a surrender
Robert Gretczko Sep 2016
you can file a nail or point it straight
when making your point in a debate
and head to the door when all goes wrong
sit tight, get up stay impenetrably strong

****** and dawdle and stay out of trouble
pass your rival and do it on the double
regress, remain somber and sated
throw your hands high and stay elated

function as a part, a piece or a tool
add to the formula and make a new rule
face the facts with convincing nod
do the best you can even if it is slipshod

feast on memories and plan your path
sit by idly and inherit one's wrath
look sternly as you play your hand pat
spring up instantly when thrown to the mat

call to order for a meeting's start
work firmly together or drift apart
take on your destiny and tough it out
sit idly by growing weary and stout
Robert Gretczko Oct 2016
what purview do you have left for me
my words, limbs or what I see
you've debased and taken all and more
now am I to be mopped across the floor

once with tender and caring concern
like an eternal flame that would forever burn
doused now with trinkets one by one
all that was cherished now blatantly undone

this journey to nowhere was never known
our blindness so complete and never shown
all those efforts, dance art and song
where crafted to make us permanent and strong

you said it your way, I mine
unholy they became in our faltering shrine
now a deep and distant haze
thankfully softens the sorrow in our days
Robert Gretczko Oct 2016
every paste and glue
  knows exactly what to do
stick around and stay together
in the sun or stormy weather

people can do
  just like glue
they link and love
  putting each other high above

some are sticky
and very picky
some softly pull apart
  others seem hard to start

couples whatever kind they be
take joy in hope others will agree
whatever cover fits the ***
seems ok as long as there's no... not

back to the glue as I said
let's all stick together and use our head
for our hearts meander to strange places
and get all caught up in gender and races
Robert Gretczko Oct 2016
blithe and without obvious anchorage time will pass
moments to months to years and thoughts forgotten
reflect, retool your mind in deference and place markers
plainly to remember with smiles or tears
what seemed so important and assertive
now just flitters so lightly more air than substance
touch your fingertips and bow your head
recall and dazzle your memory so sharp
pointed things to come your way to stick
and **** your drifting soul make mention
to your quite inklings rushing past your
golden wash works of sultry limbs and
smokey sinewy lips that breathed an
alchemy of immortality and flame throwing
lust and rolling, twisting turning convoluted
instantaneous bursting silver sparkled raging
everything that shut the door to
vapid tundra of limitless landscapes now
pressed tightly into the eye of a needle
Robert Gretczko Oct 2016
if asked say not what you really think or thought
for times come so quickly and knowledge fades so fast
all it takes is a head turn or gulp and it is all gone seems alien
what you gathered so carefully with great fuss and bother
drifts away without even a glimpse back or a simple wave...

goodbye...

love ones... lovers... great sounds... tastes... temptations
ways of thinking lusting finding groping sleeping dreaming
staying awake... dancing laughing... acting the fool... going silent
writing down... looking up... taking sides... letting out... taking in
fighting wanting, remembering and forgetting all so you can say

hello...
Robert Gretczko Dec 2016
her arms placed wide were met
by
a
firm
slow
embrace
her head rested quietly at peace on
his
shoulder
sore
from
relenting
defense
eyes closed she drifted into a quiet
place
free
from
all
fear
and
care
they clung to each other like dew to a petal
quietly
still
unmoved
alone
together
his war was now over her loneliness
filled
calmly
with
the
joy
of
eternity
Robert Gretczko Aug 2016
I marched... I made ready
my place in the crowd
the message was forceful
words so very loud

it takes on illusions
like cold air to ice
first thoughts are airy...
the latter a vice

the purpose was clear
as thought can be
infinite in wisdom
plain for all to see

it's absolutely like this
then turn it a bit
we tap it and bend it,
to make it all fit

then bright as can be
served up in delight
a host of assumptions
we sure are all right
Robert Gretczko Jun 2017
in wholeness or any part thereof
play fervently in gossip and love
recant insist and break your word
you may have to when doubt is incurred
step aside now let others pass
but walk fast not to sink in the morass
evoke your best in manners and grace
speak brightly and smart, then take your place

upright and virtuous is the way to go
and your grace and learning will surely flow
people take all you plainly give to dispense
even when you know deeply you make no sense
for you pick and pack your daily norm
like petals blown free in a summer storm
and that's all you really need to do
for friends and family find love in you
Robert Gretczko Oct 2016
on gray hard streets we pounded out our youth
amidst tightly knitted cobble stone pathways
and shining windows always kept clean
struggling strong immigrants far and wide
teemed fruitfully through long days
and playful front stoop games
ring a leeveo and johnny on a pony
stick ball, jax and my favorite skellzey
mostly happy but deadly too
many ways of speaking were spoken
cultures clashed but soon subsided
in quiet civility and tamed calm
that all efforts would bring ahead more
bright days and simple luxuries
a streetside chat... a day at Orchard Beach
breezy stroll through Crotona Park...
a picnic by water's edge and maybe a hooked flounder
pale afternoon sun would blaze firey red at sunset
then pink and purple painted effortlessly
across our sleeping skies
we longed just for friendly pushing around
flirting with the girls when the nerve came up
and smart challenges of who could do what
when and how
for then that time, our time it was
all just a dream a day and the glories
of growing up...
Robert Gretczko Sep 2016
with a lilting sigh and sudden twist
the deed was done the stone flung and
ripples moving out from in... in a harmony
I'd sing a tune if I had a voice....
make a move if I had a choice

counting down and standing up
I choose to shout out and dance a bit
engage in conversation somewhat
rumble and tumble... stretch and make do
file away all the thoughts of you

stroll needlessly with no route or place to be
chat with a memory or stand neck bent
see the sky fluttering above
make careful notes and future plans
wash up thoroughly before shaking hands
Robert Gretczko Oct 2016
torment and lament... drifting
stark disintegrating and sifting
leave now or stay....
either howl or pray

dust reclaims and hovers
the last pieces of broken lovers
you drew each other's air
now suffocating in lonely despair

unmatched... unmet glory
stilled and blind... a whole new story
he said it... you read... it's wrong
neither, now know where to belong

tattered and empty in disarray
deaf and dumb nothing left to say
last touch last breath... embrace
your final look up close... at her face
Robert Gretczko Oct 2016
lay down
   shut your eyes
  drift...
into yourself, landscapes
pure restful
  until you feel
the tickle
of sleep
then dream
of lost ways and found worlds
   special places
and times
   cheerful ways
or mystical moments
of dread
  and confused running
to unrecognized
   memories
or unknowns that may come
down your path
  jump away

or stay and let it
  navigate your
destiny in
  long arching
slow turns
     the way the
heavens emerge
  deep into the abyss
of time
    where reality
giggles and smiles back
  at you...
Robert Gretczko Oct 2016
glow to the righteous and firmed in their ways
aloof and fervent forever steadfastly pure
we allow secret ways to uncover us then cover us
over softly so other realms may enchant
we participate open-handed, open-hearted
taking and sharing in delights of pleasure
and in all good measure, we seek the quiet
of love or god or spirits those special ways
to each delivered by cherubs or captains in dress
relentless we search for purpose or oppose
sureness that slurps away at us like melting dew
how can we know or see the ways to
delay or restart matters that can confuse
then reward and disappear as if listening to fallen rain
it's not that we can not see all
but more to it, the mysteries of the unknown
far outstrip anything found, written or even imagined
Robert Gretczko Sep 2016
remain consistent above the crescents and stars
oblivious to ruination and recrimination
putting memories and drudgery behind bars
captured, contained above rule and intimidation

fluffed up behind recognition and held high
immortal as history and pretense
you've had the chance and time to belie
now you must stand at your own expense

fearing for cowards is a plain virtue
hiding... desperate as a plan can be
all purpose and position now fully askew
don't trespass again or act the detainee
Robert Gretczko Dec 2021
soon my children will fly from my firm embrace
to that worldly gaggle of spit, and fire and chance and
unleased all... opportunity, happiness, love, and desire

but for now, I'm holding tight to their smiles and stylings...
and petulance and arguments and laments... pitched battles
that end up soon in smiles and hugs goodnight

and dressing up.. posing and posturing for a tik tok
dance or feisty Instagram... silly but so now...
flippancy and admonishments roll out like a lucky seven

going out, coming in, that's up and then down
here's the doorbell being rung one, two, three times
fast, so fast... "open up Dad keys are in our backpacks"

a blink from diapers to destinations... on their own
with friends and futures in tow... be home soon
maybe midnight, maybe three... really not sure

time waits ready to treat the destiny for each one's
sonnet, symphony... jazz riff or rap synapse...
solely and uniquely fitted like a fine dovetail joint
Robert Gretczko Jan 2017
languished dreams forecast great things
sometimes.
otherwise, just take your chances
on the clock
it will meter out your to do....
and done
with each tick, you've got
another chance for
gain, loss, greatness... triumphs or
sleepy do nothings
just know it is you
that turns the temperature up
or down
joy or sadness is birthed in the gray
then flitters away
****... in less than a heart beat
so be kind to yourself
others too... sometimes that's a trial
but you are the jury
and judge... and jailer
penance or gleaming, exhilaration
you pick it from
the vegetable mart of your soul
make sure they are firm... of good color
robust in flavor...
and all mixed up... then feast away...
for life is so grand.
Robert Gretczko Sep 2016
blue green hypnotic muses pass through
the spindles of time tightly squeezed to
minuscule bits that cast themselves so weightlessly
across our minds with recollections that
sputter to an abrupt stop

here in repose, motionlessly we arch our touch
to grasp any filament that can light our heavens
the ones we secretly crush on our pillows
as we usher in the peaceful times to journey
the dark crystal studded universe of our
nights seeing the wonders and urgings
of travels to mysterious contraband landscapes
and lush ***** paradises lined up in perfect
latitudes... tangents and twists and turns
solemn stirrings and lineages that have engulfed
all thought... all pleasure... all measures
and why not... check cashed... funds paid!.
Robert Gretczko Apr 2021
full dinner and wine
tasty healthy and filling
reflect on the day

the night was quiet
until a siren's loud blast
someone has problems

a pale white full moon
you feel it in your quiet
it rouses ideas

smooth out the bedding
hmm the pillows are perfect
now it's good night time
Robert Gretczko Sep 2016
sit back be forceful but don't allude
scheme and ******... you may get fooled
castigation comes in many shades
embracing and loving forms a delicate braid

spirit is everywhere even when unseen
like past reflections can be very keen
take things firmly by the arm
the rest will seem to follow like a charm

I glanced down a street long lost in time
reflections danced freely in pantomime
agreed and settled through turgid word
at times so flagrant... spiritually absurd

grasping at passing... flirting gain
arrived with admonishments down the drain
search for solace in scripture and voice
without a purpose and little choice

twist of a ***** and flip of a coin
we enroll in our fantasy... standing ready to join
a howl of delight and a feathered cap
steady our stroll clear over the gap
Robert Gretczko Nov 2016
measure and jesture
your upcoming triumph
but keep closed your
fallen rocks and passions
casting so wide and
discordant that makes
galaxies small and
meaninglessness so strong
along the lumbering path stop and realize
the mix and measure is
so slowly turning
writhing in long vacant moments
why do we stand while our thoughts collapse
into our firm fixed places
that mystery and magic
just lie about like fallen leaves
blown free from the grip of eternity....
Robert Gretczko May 2022
a time was when the loving embrace you gave your child
fit between your fingertip and bend of your elbow

soon

it’s the top of their heads you see when they run to your embrace
cheek pressed close... hearing your heartbeat

as you heard theirs
when you pressed your cheek to mom’s birthing belly

later

your embrace first meets, eye to eye, then ear to ear
as they whisper “love you Dad... see later”

now

you look up as they bend down placing their head on your shoulder
saying “Dad I love you”... see you back after the weekend.
Robert Gretczko Apr 2021
a cascade of Pavarotti high cs
the turbulence of ocean tsunamis

a casual duck quack, quack
the clacking of a nine-ball rack

a boot dropped with a thud
the splat when falling in the mud

the morning doves coo coo coo
a diamond rings ooh ooh ooh

a sudden unexpected insult
the response and inevitable tumult

the joy in a finely aged wine
a smile from whom you choose to dine

food just dropped on your pants
the casting of an unapproving glance

a lofting climb of a high flying kite
the tug you make with all your might

the hostas now dead under the snow
will surely soon blossom, that you know

your children's tinkling joy and laughter
will be your symphony in the hereafter
Robert Gretczko Sep 2016
going down to my last reserve
I've gotten sullen and lost my nerve
now cast out all curious friend and foe
my mind made up to leave, I must go

so close and structured a team were we
now a barren collection, the remaing three
friends lingering in a static mobile
hoping to keep steady the last appeal

once thinking that destiny was free
just moments flashing with joy and glee
now pats on the back and see you real soon
but certain am I, not before the next full moon
Robert Gretczko Sep 2016
I grabbed an instant maybe more
to steady myself on the chilled floor
pushed up arising, I smoothed my face
steadied my mind to reenter the race

a lazy sun rose slowly on this fall day
the fields late lush were now sullen and gray
the chilled air swirled thinly, filled with clouds
steel gray with figures moving in the shrouds

fearless birds taking their morning flight
were early companions at first light
a distant barking pumped through the air
it was faint... all you could hear

dressed and wide-eyed I pursued the day
scheduled and planned in every way
another journey to the things I do
filled with challenge, objects, and the retinue
Robert Gretczko Sep 2016
amass your fortunes you soldiers of ire
strive to forgive none... that cross your path
in flagrant disregard and not get in the mire
fill the vessels full with all your wrath

fly across time in obsolete mentions
dart and shimmy as need be
hide in plain sight with good intentions
keep silent your joys and reverie

put to the test timeless and fixed
wrapped in glory and intimate splendor
add passion, anger thoroughly mixed
only then... head high you can fully surrender
Robert Gretczko Sep 2016
i sat alone for quite a spell
looking about there was no one to tell
so i closed my eyes in a head back repose
and drifted slowly as a quite arose

now in a slumber my mind was free
to roam in memories filled with glee
again i embraced a long lost passion
dressed in fine clothes... all the fashion

frolic and jester came so plain
rolling over landscapes and dodging the rain
her smile so wide... face aglow
the air crisp and quiet after a long falling snow

we spun, laughed poking fun
i  hoped it would never stop after it begun
a thin tickle from a falling star
rustled my mind and sent me ajar

so here i sat back again
from there to hear... and then
i saw vapor that could have been a mist
it was surely her i had just kissed

mark time
time out
out pace
pace yourself

take time
time in
in bound
bound up

come home
home spun
spun around
around town

promise broken
broken down
down spout
spout lies

face time
time due
due now
now go

lads and dads and whoop dee do's helluva time and take a snooze
pick up your shoes and pay your dues, tinker around until it's found
what you've been looking for....
all around then sit down pat yourself
on the back hit the sack call it a day...
then make your play and say hooray... hey, did you see that story
the other day... the one about the lads and the dads?

They told a story about a hidden glory... being plain as the day in
every way... no particular point of view just doing stuff like me and you... yes I heard them say in regular way
whoop dee do's and how are you?
Robert Gretczko Sep 2016
deep and carefree among the stars
vast dark carpet of endless universes
amidst our sprinkles of humanity
we drift along in certitude in our destiny
our inner being even more vast
than that what we gaze upon in wonderment
fear and longing
is there more for us or more of us
motionless we feel still yet
we rocket through this spinning nothingness
filled with all the monuments and
epochs of histories and calamities,
spartan and over flooded with grandeur
limitless adoration for being and seeing
what we have wrought and brought
  nations and people and prairies
and all of nature's fine doodles
makings in ever flowing ever growing
profundity and fantasy
so we can ask "how is your day going"
Robert Gretczko Sep 2016
I've cast aside memories like falling pennies
from my pockets filled with scraps of paper and pleadings
for joy or action

some might feel a distraction

stepping so lightly across puddles that appear
and dry to soon to the sun's burning rays
as if they were never there

you might think it would cause fear

and falling into passions that drift
through filtered memories
you grasp without thinking

you've got to because you are sinking

pleasures hurry down your backyard streets
fast now man... can't you see
no way to stop this wave

sit back anticipate the crave
Robert Gretczko Aug 2016
a rash of failings and testy upheavals
oncoming gush of particular evils
take a time now to think it through
your fate you will lose to an indelicate rue

lost stature folded over in napkin style
hidden from the essence of a fateful smile
berated and scorned like a sore loser
stanchions holding back another abuser

leaping into action in avoiding this fate
but fell a bit short, behind a black ball and figure eight
I'll look upon posterity in a fast moving flight
to a new brighter place in ablaze with light
Robert Gretczko Dec 2016
I fixed my heart
but broke my promise
I spent much fortune
and acquired more thought
I launched a thousand ideas
but keep close my private spirit
I screamed my hate
and love slipped in
I spoke many themes
learned what not to say
I sought sanctuary
joined many a march
I bravely stood my ground
and ran from adversity
I pulled my punches
threw my weight around
I found my direction
and lost my fears
Robert Gretczko Sep 2016
I sent up a fully inflated trial balloon
it drifted patiently past an August moon

though it fell upon deafened ears
the effort did not seem fraught with fears

but causing consternation soon thereafter
to my shock and surprise... I anticipated laughter

one never knows what some may think
you think you know, then it all changes in a wink

it's curious how things fit together
silky suede and Spanish leather

tea for two and three of a kind
people adept with a common mind

flowers as redolent as crystalline spice
heated passions that turn quickly to ice

alluring speech and total silence
tuning out stories of angst and violence

a fit of anger that trembles your heart
the longing pain when lover's part

men playing cards or pumping weights
well dressed women with alluring gaits

a chef sipping a tasty stew
sitting around waiting for something to do

holding on tight to a winding stair rail
the slowing steps when turning old and frail

a blue clearing sky after a sudden storm
a well-made bed silky and warm
Robert Gretczko Sep 2016
I alight fair maiden to bid
you good night

being sure my presence did entice
filled fully with your lust and spice

your redolent hair and lips so moist
heavy though... I lifted fully the joist

now pleasure and good moments flow readily
like an ocean of rainbows embracing me

for her now I have a place to remain
cogent and warmly ensconced in her plain

a kiss to tidy up the last remnant of time
I'll carry  your essence now that it is mine

each step from here now will be loftier for sure
I feel it already as I pass through your door

judgment pales when order is broken
engulfed and corrupt in all that gets spoken
and links to a lost lamenting sorrow
we must turn to beg, steal and borrow

a touch of adore and affectionate surprise
reminiscence and memories deep in your eyes
turns heads then hearts and snaps to attention
faltering apologetically at the mere mention

adrift adeptly to order the cure
so plainly and succinctly she can act demure
eliminate sadness complacency or shame
abruptly parting and now placing the blame

recalcitrant and diminished... hang on and hold tight
amused and bemused now in distant flight
like unwelcomed thoughts cutting and cold
all will be judged when this story gets told

Baton rouged
cheeks
aglow
four syllable, setting back in lyric repose
smoldering Gibson
curved
muse
flashing
dashing
clicking
eyes
wide open square-mouthed
head askew
laughing
pearl white pink... framed
lips
licking a pinched, closed
moment
in discovery... sensations wither on primrose
not
the clipped voice
kind
just plain, distanced
gazing
tight fingers folded neatly as
if in
prayer
swinging through
the misty
little
girl
remnant days
all cause found
in
the plundered calendars
jealously relinquishing
the shadows
to
the
sensual
voluptuous
light

tinker around the edges
or plunge right in head first

mind where you are walking
wipe your shoes before entering

say hi to a stranger
let your friends know you care

come down on the side of right
know when you might be wrong

allude to a memory
stick to a measured thought

bring about change
stay steady as she goes...

take time to smell the flowers
know when something really stinks

remind those who have forgotten
take stock of yourself as well

make sure to always be on time
keep cognizant of things of late

stay strong when the going gets tough
smooth out a difference when you can

yield to a cogent argument
be strong to inner truth

stay beguiled to the unknown
state forcefully what you know

i write at night
when the world goes quiet...
           the time is right

meanings, reflections
       all that's been acquired
flow to words keynotes to times...
      that have expired

the comings and goings of
          things now a mist
soon take life's reckonings
              that seem to persist

a place, a face... bumps and clicks
clocks filled with daylight and
          slow-burning wicks

shuttered terraces ablaze
  in the sun
closed and forgotten
      march on a breathless run
