I've got an exclamation to add elation...'
a comma, to add some more...
a period to finish it up and gently close the door
a dash to keep it moving... a question mark to get you thinking...
and ellipses for additional linking
a parenthesis to keep it all intact... and arrow to bring you back...
an ampersand holds it from coming apart...
and a cap... gets you going for a really great start!

lads and dads and whoop dee do's helluva time and take a snooze
pick up your shoes and pay your dues, tinker around until it's found
what you've been looking for....
all around then sit down pat yourself
on the back hit the sack call it a day...
then make your play and say hooray... hey, did you see that story
the other day... the one about the lads and the dads?

They told a story about a hidden glory... being plain as the day in
every way... no particular point of view just doing stuff like me and you... yes I heard them say in regular way
whoop dee do's and how are you?

below the measure comes up short... kind of a sport
     of melancholy retort

aloof and breathlessly cold, defiant and bold
wasting no time remembering what was told

a quiet but steady chime, sullen places marking time
hastily sorting moments - so sublime

I touched a leaf... stolen by chance like a thief
brought back to a place of no relief

bringing water to thirst, like an unearned prize... a burst
thinking it was just another's place... but in fact, I was first

sit back be forceful but don't allude
scheme and ******... you may get fooled
castigation comes in many shades
embracing and loving forms a delicate braid

spirit is everywhere even when unseen
like past reflections can be very keen
take things firmly by the arm
the rest will seem to follow like a charm

I glanced down a street long lost in time
reflections danced freely in pantomime
agreed and settled through turgid word
at times so flagrant... spiritually absurd

grasping at passing... flirting gain
arrived with admonishments down the drain
search for solace in scripture and voice
without a purpose and little choice

twist of a ***** and flip of a coin
we enroll in our fantasy... standing ready to join
a howl of delight and a feathered cap
steady our stroll clear over the gap

not now, maybe later... forget about it
don't hash over that nonsense again
dispose of it right away... lickity split

trash it, smash it, loose it somewhere
it's old, out of date, irrelevant
just do it....how?... I don't care

in a moment it will be plain enough
just do what I say...
yes right now... and no guff!!

it seemed so okay
yeah, I know, I see what you mean
but you'll have to get rid of it anyway

pack it up... it's over, you know what to do
you really mean it huh?
you heard me right, it ain't up to you

I am completely aware that water is heavier than air
fish swim, birds fly... each in their special atmosphere
roads can turn in random ways
evening's light strolls slowly... ending days
cat's nip on catnip and dogs bark and scratch
a much wiser person can be an unequal match
shoes fit best when they are the right size
every sea that dips will in short time rise
eloping with a **** lady
some might look upon as being a bit shady
cows seem disinterested when giving milk
worms even more so... when spinning silk
lumberjacks don't trifle when in the woods
merchants are vexed when underpaid for their goods
coins that jingle in your pocket
are no match for the roaring rocket
you can be fooled when not paying attention
and jump at a chance at the slightest mention
gymnasts tumble and flip out with ease
some of your best people do whatever they please
looking and seeing are as different as can be
you'll never get through that door if you don't have the key

I grabbed an instant maybe more
to steady myself on the chilled floor
pushed up arising, I smoothed my face
steadied my mind to reenter the race

a lazy sun rose slowly on this fall day
the fields late lush were now sullen and gray
the chilled air swirled thinly, filled with clouds
steel gray with figures moving in the shrouds

fearless birds taking their morning flight
were early companions at first light
a distant barking pumped through the air
it was faint... all you could hear

dressed and wide-eyed I pursued the day
scheduled and planned in every way
another journey to the things I do
filled with challenge, objects, and the retinue
