Life's Flame
If I did a candle burn
It would show forth its light
But soon it would at last burn out
And show how short it's life

Strong and bright would stand the flame
Dancing in the wind
Never giving second thought
That the candle someday ends

Our life is like a candles flame
Gods breath lights the wick
We brightly burn a little while
Then death our life does *****

The flame of life only shortly breathes
It does not forever burn
When will we take the time to see
And this lesson learn

Heaven
Beyond deaths darkened portal
The deep and silent grave
In the abyss that lies beyond
Is that place that's ruled by day

Where the light of God forever shines
Within that realm unseen
And angels there abound
To love , lift up , esteem

It is a bright and beautiful place
Where abides all believers souls
It holds all true peace and joy
No more is death or woe

No need of sun or moon or star
For the light of God, he is it's king
There all faithful servants to the lord himself
Will live under Jesus reign

To walk in eternal life
Forever in Gods own haven
Where love and peace and kindness dwell
Together forever in heaven

Hell
Beyond deaths darkened portal
That deep and silent grave
In the abyss that lies beyond
Is that place that knows not day

Where darkness rules forever
Within that realm unseen
And demons there abound
To torture , haunt , demean

It is a cold and empty place
Where abides no friend or foe
It holds no hope or joy
But only death and woe

No sun or moon or star shines there
It is the devils dark domain
Where slaves to evils way
Abide under Lucifers reign

To walk in eternal torment
In the place where Satan dwells
Where live s all hate and sin and deciet
Together forever in hell

The Clock Runs Down
The clock is wound for life but once
And it sings it's ticking song
We know not if the song be short
Or if the song be long

With each quickly passing moment
The clocks spring comes unwound
And never can it be wound again
Once the spring runs down

Live life true and do your best
For God and your fellow man
While the clock still sings for you
And on the earth you stand

Some unknown day the clock will cease
And it's tune no longer sing
Do good now, have no regrets
Before runs down the spring

Carnal Temptations
Buried down inside my mind
Hidden deep within
Are thoughts I cannot tell
Of hate and lust and sin

Darkness rules this place
Where I often go to visit
A heart that is willing
Is Satans only  requisite

There I meet the demons
The ones that cause me shame
Gropeing all upon me
Yelling out my name

Tempting me to do
Acts I thought I couldent
Thoughts and visions seen
Of things I know I shouldent

I turn to try to run
And from the evil flee
But I cannot  escape
The temptations holding me

At last I break away
It is only a short reprieve
For soon again I'm tempted
By the lies the demons weave

Simple Things
For the long forgotten days of old
Within my heart I pine
Days now so distant
Left so far behind

Days that seemed much kinder
When right was understood
Days of simple joy
Kind and right and good

Days of simple pleasures
No want of money's things
Computers , phones or TVs
No shining diamond rings

Just treasured days of summer
Offering their wealth of gold
Nightimes gift of silver
In the sky's our eyes behold

The beautiful sound of music
Coming from a robins throat
The peace of a butterfly
As upon the wind he floats

The simplest things of life
Are the things my heart desires
Mountains great and high
And trees that stand as spires

An Old Image
As I look upon the image
Of a face I have never known
I ask "What story might I see,
If your life to me we're shown?

Were your sorrows just as mine
Your troubles and your trials
Did the same things bring you joy
And laughter along with smiles

Now you are just a ghost
Yet in this image I can see your face
A life from a distant past
A story from another place

My story to will someday hide
In an image one may behold
As one like me looks into the face
Of a man from long ago

LIFE
Life is an impartial balance
From its beginning to its end
It weighs you not as a foe
Nor does it weigh you as a friend

It comes to you uninvited
In the dark within the womb
Then leaves without consent
And you are laid within the tomb

Life cares not if you be rich or poor
Life cares not if you be strong or lame
Life comes to each just as they are
To life, we are all the same

Life does not possess us
Rather, we are possessors of life
Possessors of its many joys
Possessors of its many strifes

Pursue life to its utmost meaning
Do ! That ,within your heart you know
For life is not your friend
Nor is life your foe

I Was In The Mirror
A mirror inside a frame
Silently hung upon the wall
My reflection within so clear
Till I felt the mirror fall

The hand that clutched the anchor
To which the mirror held
Slowly lost its grip
Till at last the mirror fell

Crashing to the floor
The mirror broke to shards
My reflection now was scattered
Like a thrown deck of cards

The anchor was the point
At which I lost my hold
Now I lie broken
Shattered , crushed and cold

I'm Worn
I wish the strength I once possessed
Would come again to me
My body strong as when I was young
No more these maladys

I wish that I could hear once more
The things I used to hear
The chirping bird a crunching leaf
Once these were so clear

Once my  eyes could clearly read
Words upon a page
But now the words they only blur
The more as I age

I have so many aches and hurts
Within my bodies frame
But there was a time when I did not
O if I could be young again

— The End —
