Drab bookends

.

I used to look forward to the sunrise,
soft watercolor whispers blushing
to the east in rose petal hues
on a perriwinkle sky
as I awoke each morning –

But now they are nothing more than
drab bookends to another day in my life
I wish had never been written

*– and I adored the vibrant sunset,
citrus splashed heavens shimmering
in tangerine and lemon zest
effervescence on the western horizon
as my day neared its end

The closest thing I know to love
Is something I am thinking of
In every sorted worry that my mind decides to share

While drinking heavy in the past
Inside the shadows I now cast
The bottom of the bottle lets me know I am aware

Collecting on a shouldered score
Finding it is nothing more
Than voiced in my confessions of imaginary scenes

Reaching for a photograph
Searching for its aftermath
Tuning off the station in the middle of my dreams

The fury of this drunken bliss
Reminds me of your tender kiss
And ever since I felt it, it is something that I long

For in the end this fairy tale
Reminds me of my quest to fail
Deep within the lyrics of some broken hearted song

He sits on a hill
crying tears of rejection
Searching for love
but to chase it away

Calling the clouds
hanging low in the heavens
Blind to the light
in its abstract display

There all alone
hearing voices on breezes
Swears it is him
they are talking about

Recording echoes
on pages of reasons
Counting each one
on his fingers of doubt

Feeling the sweat
as it drips past his hairline
Filling the cracks
that have formed on his skin

Drowning the dreams
of the flooded temptations
Closing his eyes
just to try once again

Falling apart,
tiny pieces now crumble
Pebbles of life
cast to reaches below

Back to the earth
if the soil will have him
Maybe this time
something better will grow

Drunk poet
Under that palm tree,
We once laughed at lazy farmers,
Across that path we were made novice lovers,
Then you smiled,
You knew, I knew what you meant,
Right there we once danced in the rain,
Smile days after days,
Beneath that Carriage we first made love,
But its over, and forgotten,
Like a stone at the bottom of the ocean,
We left dager in our biased heart,
Sort of two stones thrown I different directions,
Everyday owing each moment, that I have vividly imagine,
Pictured place perfectly in my heart,
My old diary of great mystery,
Mysteries we fathomed,
Seemed to be fantasy and shield phantom,
You reveled to me,
My old brown dairy you gave me,
All pages up here In my memory,
With a golden ribbon

Thousand times I walked on this path
Thousand times I was in rush
Thousand times I saw my own thoughts
Thousand times I heard my own steps

Today I walked on this path again
As I walked there for the first time

I saw the big oak standing there for hundred years
Crinkles and scars gracing his body
Daisies and daffodils warming his feet
The eyes of a green man are smiling at me

The meadow is invitingly soft
The sunbeams are tickling my face

I took of my shoes of and watched my steps
My feet got wet loving blades of grass
My soul turned green
My fingers touching gently the face of a green man

The dewdrops are sparkling in the sun
Washing my face

The meadow puts its arms around my body
Hugging me gently like a caring lover
Dressing me in most beautiful dress I ever had
Filling my heart with love

All my senses got busy
The silence makes a sound

The birds are singing
The warm breeze playing music in the leaves
The butterflies are dancing in the wind
The sky is deep blue

I feel the heartbeat of mother earth
Swaying me slowly in a sleep…

… dreaming of a green man …

Empty words

A poet
without a heart
is merely a person
writing empty words
on a page…

I am that person
