You're no longer a person
You're just a poster
You're propaganda
You're a poser
You advertise
You black out our eyes
You're no longer a person
You're just a poster
If I let you run along me, like two raindrops
Crossing paths on the condensation
On the icy pains,
Would you drop to earth
Like march rains
Would I only want for sunlight
To dry you
From my face.
Would you grow inside me
And fill this empty space
Or would we simply become one?
Or in the act of our colliding would I
Just come undone?
You are all wrapped up in your hostility remarkably
Handsome with that impish grin, hand playing
With the hem of the defensiveness I’m in.
You always step just a bit to close to test
Something in this
To gest at something
Better than this competition,
You would like us to both win.
Bite your lip again I like to think
You are more than a mistake that’s not mine to make,
Sometimes
I think…
I should let you win
And if you came here to press on my skin,
Pull at the edges of my uncertainty,
I might just let you in.

To: you.

It's gonna take me a long time to get over you
When I asked how long "long" is
You just shook your head.
Fair enough.
We sat in silence for a while.
Before then I'd never seen you cry,
But it was much more than just tears.
Blame, regret, and a certain brokenness
dripped* from your face,
Until there were no more words to say.
That was the hardest part-- no words.
We'd always had a plethora of stories,
Jokes, and lessons
To share with each other...
But when lightning struck the requiem
Behind which we hid,
I lost my ability to speak.
And so did you.
From: me.

Shay Ruth
Reach further, she's there
Can't you see her?
She gazes and prays
She turns and cries for shifts
Within her
Without her

Succinct tongues speak out of turn
Slicing thoughts of strength
Lower she stumbles fading into shadowed
Currents, locked between steel
The skies trample and snap
Delicate curves of the heart

Flesh appears by chill
Breathy ice tickles tunnels of sound
Touching, moving all nervousness
Arising north, present and dangerous
Nourished opportunities hanging
Churning flaws and mistakes

What spine shivers against the blade
One cleave to tear deeper
And another to consume the decomposing
All who bathe under the stars beware
For hearts beat in the fingertips
Rotating to echoes of tomorrow

Empty days filled with blank faces,
Rehearsed conversations and colorless places
Dark nights with no light,
Nothing wrong and nothing right

Leaves change and people grow,
Love found a way to melt the snow

A new year,
Tears dried and nothing to fear
Change in the air,
Someone to adore and someone to care
Wistful days filled with simple pleasures,
A reminder to myself that friendships are treasures
