Ren Rosechild Apr 2020
Infant grass-
new as when the first moment of creation
drew a practice breath-

struggles up from the birth canal
of sweating dark earth

expecting
an abundant suckle
of sun and warm spring rain

fed instead with a crust
of April snow
Ren Rosechild Apr 2020
Time alone
such a rare commodity
like an ancient coin hawked
on a two-in-the-morning infomercial.

Made that impulse buy
today
grabbing minutes
from an hour booked
already holding too much

Screeching sudden turn
off road sliding down
to the narrow shore
empty waiting

for my footprints-
and my time
to fill it.
Ren Rosechild Apr 2020
gull and crow
catch chilled morning air
tumble around and over
feathered yin and yang

fly beneath sun
held occasional hostage
by silvered chains
loosened with the wind
