I'm not great with words.
I often have to redefine them
And rework how they come together
To approach what I mean.
You can skim these stanzas until the "but"
Or you can read it all to truly understand.

Without making this an essay,
The closest words to how I feel are
"You are so beautiful."

When I say beautiful,
I want it to mean something.
Your laugh, your shy smile, your glistening eyes
All unite into something magnificent.

I want to tell you "you're beautiful"
But the word's been sapped of it's meaning
In a world of false compliments.
When I say it,
I don't simply mean you look good,
I'm talking about you as a whole.

Beauty isn't just one great feature,
It's several amazing things
That come together gracefully
And compliment each other to
Create something far more breathtaking
Than the individual parts could ever hope to be.

It's a kind of grace of being where
What would be considered imperfections
Bring the whole closer to perfection

I would say you make me want to be a better person
But this too is thrown around.
I don't just want to put on a pretty face,
Polite conversation,
Some fancy clothes.

I want to be someone who truly makes you happy.
Someone who makes you smile when you need it.
If you don't think you deserve someone
Who will try to be the best they can for you,
It shows me how much more you do deserve them.

You leave me speechless.
Literally sometimes.
It's why I'm writing this down
So I don't lock up while telling you.
When it comes to how I feel,
It gets more complex still.

When it comes to how I feel,
I become scared that no matter
How many words I write down
It will only make you uncomfortable

I just wish I could look in your eyes
Take hold of your hand
And show you the beauty I see
Without needing words anymore.
