I thought she slept all the time
in the realms beyond this life
tempting fate for the chance
to discover what she truly wants

the distant shores where slumber reigns
were her home beyond the mundane
where the truth was revealed
at the cost some count extreme

she finds peace while vexed concern
filled the minds of bystanders
those who are satisfied
by the standards of boring life

occasionally she’d wake to post
what happened when eyes were closed
I’d read the words while jealousy
asked why I could not do the same.

Forgiveness was not my request
solicitation as a bequest
from damnation imagined by
those without a reference to my life

the offer smacks of hyperbole
a bargain made with misery
based on assumptions without a care
for the lives cast to disrepair

to be washed from myself
cleansed until nothings left
has no attraction if life awaits
beyond the judgment of conjured fates

deny the pardons filled with fault
creating guilt where there is none
clemency offered asks one to admit
the sum being is villainous.

The poem “The Sum Being” was inspired by concept that forgiveness is required in order to be right with the world in regards to orientation and gender identity.  The non-normative is not broken or sinful.  They are just a different normative.

Silence amidst cacophony
those pauses from disharmony
introduce realms beyond the blare
an invitation to those who dare

beauty without soliloquy
the statement made in bless harmony
with a world none shall explain
when the essence is made plain

the smallest of all things
and the largest of consequence
stand outside the dialogue
of words bent to account

look to the heavens filled with stars
or the splendor of a cat’s paw
these breaks from a troubled world
each only asks to be observed.

The poem “To Be Observed” was inspired a meme that featured a night sky, filled with stars, and the caption “admidst silence”.

Threads connect beyond the shade
the domain where memories fade
lost as a price for the chance
to bind what will forever last

one lifetime is not enough
to explore the high and low
when the bonds justify
exchange of wrong and right

to find the linkage to explain
somewhere past the present day
look to the Moirai that allot
the varied spans from birth to death

from the spindle to the slash
friends and enemies have a place
the end result is a tapestry
the weave of destiny still unseen.

The poem "Threads"  was inspired by thoughts about the connections between people.

All the joys that came before
are ground to dust in times deplored
by the demand of spirits lost
in the storms that come at a cost

faith that hope will remain
is battered by the driving rain
winds evoked without resolve
the outer darkness has the cause

still some shelter stands alone
demanding solace of the calm
even while the lights grow dim
ask not who the self condemns

those sparks of life most celebrate
have lost their shine in what remains
all the joys except for those those
harbored close in last repose.

The poem “Last Repose” is another contemplation about the impact of lasting depression.

Consider words etched on the skin
put there by the poet’s pen
seen by those with the sight
to perceive the dark from the light

within those shadows the tale unwinds
a single line at a time
applied to flesh in full resolve
to illustrate how life evolves

by increments the muse explains
what came before was the paint
indelible as as the wind
still covering every inch

these notes of ashen hues
still relevant to those who view
the aftermath of poet’s pen
etched forever on the skin.

The poem “Poet’s Pen” was inspired by a photo of a person with words written on their majority of their bare skin.
