A new low among the heights
a spiral returning into the mire
ever escaping gravity's pull
towards a crash upon the globe

even when the sun may shine
fill the expanse of the sky
the clouds blanket unseen earth
depths far from the warming orb

asking nothing but belief
that doom will return to compete
with belief of upward trends
tested by the cold malaise

all the reasons to resist
in culmination to exist
are put aside without hope
lest the highs take control.

The poem “New Low” is about the downside of a spiraled recovery from depression.

The exchange is condemned
flesh for payment in the hand
while the world ignores the same
as equal swaps have no blame

those servitudes by married states
proceeded by the dating game
ask that skin be exposed
prior to forms of *******

while the outcome is alike
imaginations seek to decry
those outside the prescriptive ways
when doubles standards are in play

purity separate from the price
what’s made right in a thought
curse the ones who provide
just the same in God’s knowing eyes.

The poem “Just the Same” was inspired by a meme that stated, “*** work criminalization got me wondering: why is it illegal to sell something legal to give away?”

Would I care what people thought
when the choice was resolved
knowing there'd be no joy
just shades of angst to be explored?

this sum of anger for an end
arriving early by selfishness
becomes a vessel of the pain
for those seeking facts to blame

what part they played in memories
is for survivors to decide
this gift unwanted by the world
submitted by pain’s reserve

the sum of good is cast aside
with ill supplanting views of life
already I know there's no joy
in choices made to leave the hurt.

The poem “Leave the Hurt” was inspired by a stray thought about how people would judge a life after it was over.

Beauty holds a special place
across the spectrum life may take
instructed by vision’s quest
then turned to dark for evil wants

the blessed game of give and take
gives the latter an upper hand
given to the grasping tastes
wishing lust to be the game

between the look and the touch
one comes first if life is fair
while the second is not assumed
when the world disdains abuse

that wanting beauty to be held
without respect for vessel’s stead
the spectrum does not permit
transgression taken in the end.

The poem “Transgression Taken” was inspired by wanting to write about beauty.   The following night I dreamed about a friend who was unwillingly part of a traveling *** slave outfit.    I didn’t realize it was them at first, but when I did, I held them close and cried.

When dislike becomes ingrained
a statement made to the self
those who choose to love the same
are discarded in folly’s blame

the ones most loyal to the cause
by sake of blood or something more
are cast aside lest the care
bring some hope to angst declared

the doom is fully self-avowed
that happiness cannot be found
now the world knows only pain
sharing this with sharp disdain.

to **** the self becomes the charge
with no allowance for outside grace
when dislike becomes ingrained
a hate for all is life remained.

The poem “When Dislike” is about a form of depression that begins with hatred of the self.  This extreme form of self-worth degradation becomes a negative emotion against the world.

Piety is the cold refrain
repeated to ease the pain
with a chorus of like minds
denouncing comfort left behind
resurrected from past crimes
conveyed in warning by the wise

or experienced in the past
now reviewed with shamed abash
those artifacts of pleasure felt
when the guard was withheld
allowing worlds to tumble in
swamp the dullness with bouts of sin

the crashing waves of sublime bliss
snapping anchors like mere twigs
arise from depths when reticence
is put aside to live again
to drown would lead to certain death
the little ones are the best

falling far from staid grace
into rapture thought debased
in response the walls arise
reaching high into the sky
seeking mercy from on high
piety grasped instead of life.

The poem "Piety Grasped" was inspired by the book “Female Piety, a Young Woman’s Friend and Guide”, and a rather ****** dream.

Mirrors stand to illustrate
the scope of self then displayed
reactions twisted to reflect
in the face of other folks

a funhouse without laughs
screams echoes against walls
while the reflections twist and turn
stating horror as consequence

this ruling stated without hope
damning all in parallel
some asking to be judged
while others offer cruel insight

poison spread from the taint
an image felt within the heart
provided with ill intent
at request of supplicants.

The poem “Screams Echoed” was inspired by thoughts about toxic mirrors.  While they are desired, the results are damning to both the requester and the one supplying feedback.  The need to be seen in a certain way is poisoned by the uncharitable thoughts of others.
