I kiss the lips of nicotine instead of kissing you You showed no signs of leaving, and yet you broke me too When I held you I hoped to hold everything you wanted forgotten Her biting words, your dad's drink, and expectations you carefully walked on I wanted to pull and threaten every sob that left your lungs With the kisses that I peppered down your jaw when we hugged But your eyes made me cry like Jesus in Gethsemane What a color of many colors, those retinas held felicity You pressed your forehead on mine and bridges of noses brushed You sang the radio lyrics and between words, kisses hushed I feel so parasitic, so pathetic, so paralytic How can I never hold you again? To only look for mere mimic -G.A.
