On this day, my beloved, we travel to the slopes of happiness
To feel the warmth of golden butterflies again
We will listen to the wind’s laughter without a single care
With open arms that reach like roots of a tree
That will always remember
Where they began

We will build our house upon grasses of peacefulness
Bid farewell to those boughs that break
Plant red poppies where a fence once stood
Creating two separate paths to walk
Between your heart and mine
Mending our aches

When the clock strikes, time will mean nothing at all
Resting our minds in each other’s shade
Our names written in the memories of leaves
That may fall and change their colors
But never lose sight of happiness
When they fade

Can you see the smiles engraved in stone, which lie
Before our beautiful bed of poppy flowers
Displaying a shield of protection from the floods
That we both know shall one day come
They are the foundation we built
All these hours
