  the heart-breaking

       what is this?

Is this what we asked for

    when we said those fateful words?

In a parallel world

        Maybe you'll get lucky

              And live a fairy-tale life

But here

   All you get
  
        is

            first the yearning

            (causes you to do irrational things)

                  then the heartbreak

                  (when he says no)

Yet still we do it

     what for?

Yet still we say those words

"I love you."
