I never "got" poetry
                          That danced around the page
or broke
in arbitrary
places

Maybe it shows my ignorance to poetry as an art
        despite me
                      being a poet
          or something like it

But I suppose life too,
                         dances around
     as it pleases

and I don’t understand that either
              despite the fact that I am living
        or something like it


and I don’t understand humanity either
      even though I am human

or something like it
