He sat without legs, crutches by his side
not far
from a Hollywood Golden Star...
(the Hollywood Walk of Fame)
where I wished with all my might
that I could have written his name
as I observed people hurrying on by
without any kind of "Hello", or "Hi"
(or, a simple smile)
they just moved around...
not even noticing to look at him - or, look down
feet moving quickly past this legless man
looking tired, and worn
his grocery bags were all ripped n' torn
I kneeled down right there...
asking him if he needed help to go somewhere...
but The Unknown Star
looked bravely into my eyes
and, he just smiled...
Replying,
"No, thank you. I just have five more miles."
