We meet and entangle,
An impassioned embrace,
That ultimately,
Crushes the heart.

Bitter sweet love,
That flows and dies.
The folly of expectations
the key to its sad demise.

No perfection exists,
Except in the mind.
All the rest, an illusion.
Alford Lord Tennyson, long ago
and wisely wrote;
"It is better to have loved and lost,
Than never have loved at all."
A very fine and fitting summation.
I would add, that the moments we
spend in love, even though brief,
are the best investments in time that
we shall ever make. And we remain
forever richer for it.
