Across the sea,
So very far away from me.
Unexpected love,
Light as a dove.
You took my heart
In your hands
And cradled it
Like a prized possession.
Deployed as a Marine,
Patiently waiting for me
Filling me with glee.
Your love hit me
Like a ton of bricks.
Your broken heart,
I am here to fix.
Never will I write you
A Dear John letter,
I'm so much better
Than what she did to you.
All you should expect
From me are poems,
And "open when" notes.
I'd ride a boat,
A plane,
A train
Just to get to you.
But waiting for you
Is agonizing,
But worth it all the while.
