opulence on impact
I fear the day
the height I soar
will be too much for my wings to handle
where time slowly fades
like spontaneous lumber within a hearth
where little by little
my feathers fall and my eyes steadily closing
slowly at first but then faster
falling and failing at a height that breaks
spinning I was heavily
when moments before impact my eyes opened
realizing that eagles are capable of evolving at a rapid pace
I crashed, immobile for a moment
broken but still confound by hope
that is when stars aligned themselves to guide me
and burst forth FIRE!
a phoenix stronger and brighter before.
