And maybe I'm afraid.
Afraid of so many things.
I'm afraid of letting someone in,
afraid that I'll be torn up from the inside again.

But I let you in.

And I shouldn't have expected anything different

But I did.

It was worse than before though.
I just don't know why.

Maybe it was your smile,
or the sound of your voice
when you lied
and said you would never hurt me.

Funny thing is
I'd heard those words before,
but when you spoke them it was as if they were in a different language,
one I didn't understand.

*And so I believed you.
