Four am.

Rain softens
… along the path.

Puddles…
Still; Silent; Dark;
… free.

Noises…;
A sleepless city
Hurries… beyond a stony gate.

Vehicles hasten … to destinations
Unknown;

Couples laugh
… under umbrellas;

Only I
And…
Raindrops
Know…
The solitude
Here
… in the park.

Wispy mist
Pervades
The darkness;

Puddles…
Begin to dance;

Retreat;

Here.
The air …
Peaceful; Silent; Content;

The rain ends.

A cool fragrance…

Memories…land
Like a summer-storm
You… overwhelm my mind.

Time moves

Like…
A single solitary raindrop

Falling
… into a puddle;

Along the walk
Lamp-lights
play… in ripples

Memories;
Laughter…
Tears…
So many years

Gone…

The return of warmth…
Held
… within
An exquisite tingle.

A peaceful chill;

A smile surrenders;

Darkness holds
… another day;

Once more
… rain falls.
