Short of Breath
If I took a breath, that
Didn't involve you
I'd be short of air by now
At least somewhere down
The line, there would be
A simpler time where breathing became easy
Just the simple
Inhale, Exhale
Would be sufficient to carry on
But easier said than done, my dear
My inhales were your exhales
And i fear you face was my only candlelight
I'd like to say I'm sorry
But I'm all out of apologies and
I'm pretty sure you've heard them all before
I will, therefore, not be a bore and
Rhyme my way back to
Your heart
Instead, I will remain
Til death,
To be forever,
Short of Breath.
