May 2014
The daylight comes through curtains,
Giving the afternoon an echo-glow
That comes only from a lifetime indoors.

It is going to be another night
Of pleasing thank you’s,
And scouring lipstick off plastic.

My teeth are yellowing in a caffeine binge,
As hands tremble over loose change;
Too much change to be sure of anything.

I am tired of this departure lounge of life.
My bags are packed, I’m ready to leave,
Yet still I sit, whilst others take to the sky.
