Bam, bam, bam goes the rhythm of the goat skin drum;
My calling card to where I'm from.
And where I'm from,
Is Nigeria.
Imo State, Nigeria,
Umuowa, Imo State Nigeria.
I carry that bam-bam rhythm on my breast,
Upon my lips,
In my mind,
It is within me!
It is me!
And I am it.
Because the bam-bam rhythm of the goat skin drum is my pride;
The pride of knowing where I belong;
The pride of knowing to whom I belong.
Because the bam-bam rhythm of the goat skin drum is my history.
It is my family and my legacy.
Bam, bam, bam goes the rhythm of the goat skin drum.
And, to its beat, I march.
