We lay together,
breathing heavily –
our chests rise and fall out of rhythm.
I try to synchronize them,
timing my breath to start with yours.
But your lungs are much larger
and your breaths much deeper.
So we lay together,
breathing heavily –
out of synch with each other,
but content nonetheless.
