A brilliant star smiles brightly before quickly fading
From the love of heaven’s skies
You may capture the pulse of his brilliance fleeting
Stand in sorrow in the passing
Of a life you knew
Once thrived

You could bend your head in sorrow, grief and pain
Listening for the brush of angel wings
Wave goodbye to a parting friend you cannot detain
The saddest song you know
You could always
Softly sing

Or you could send the bravest smile of farewell
Hold close his memory
Close your eyes and let him always sail
Within your loving heart
Always smiling back
So brilliantly
