You're an entire lung
while I'm just the air you breathe
And I know I'm what you need
for the songs that you'll sing
and the ones that you've sung
I know that you just use me
but we know you're my only one
So I let you
It's like you tried
to pass me by
without me seeing
I can't see through
the pretty eyes you use
to complicate my breathing
And that you knew
With every soft hello
I would rather die than say
Another hard goodbye
Maybe it's not a disguise
Maybe it's true that
you can see it in their eyes
So if I see yours, will you see mine?
And if you do, will you lie?

I love the way you use me
And I know that soon you'll die
So I will touch the stars for you
But for now just use me one last time
"You complicate my breathing and you make it hard for me to speak.
So for now I will hold my coffee, write, and think."
