You asked me not to talk to him.
Then he started flirting with me.
I couldn't make him stop talking to me.
I've kind of wondered what
would happen
if he asked me out.
Now I know.
I told tell him
Sorry, but I can't.
He asks
Why?
I swallow the lump in my throat.
Because I made a promise.
I leave it at that and walk away.
I said no even though I wanted to say yes.
Because I made you a promise,
you meaning absolutely everything to me.
We share secrets
and gossip.
But that's the one thing I wasn't allowed to do.
I said no because I made you a promise.
