you planted her
in fresh soil, and gave her
water every day.

you cared for her,
you even sang to her, songs
with haunting melodies.

her fingertips were leaves,
and her eyelashes flowered.
her limbs grew branches and
vines grew from her scalp.
she was alive, and it was all
thanks to you. a green haven,
a paradise, of shrubbery and life.

she fought through the seasons,
and continued to grow.
flourishing after the harshest winter,
blooming after a marvelous summer.

you started to forget her water - and
over time, her heart grew weeds,
which she could not sustain.

she was a garden and you were
the water, although, you ceased to rain.
the seedling ceased to be.
