Oct 2010
Those waves crashed in and took my breath
Stealing the air, I need
To safely walk upon these shores
Of sinking sand
From which I cannot be freed

I feel each grain enveloping my soul
Pulling my spirit down
Yet I do not know which way to turn
To save myself
From sinking ground

My eyes are turned upward to the skies
Lips moving willingly
And I wonder if you even see me here
Sinking in the sand
Of your sea

Those waves roll back, sweet air rushes in
My feet are finally freed
I look down at the sinking ground
Seeing that what held me here
Was me
