You have saved me from despair
and all-knowing conviction
to half-truths, penny-saving,
and the unreality of all tastes confined
to that of general acceptance.

You have redeemed me from loss,
loss, loss and total loss of limb and time.
In this inactive protest,
you tilt up my chin, hold my hair
and deliver me that sweet syrup of words.
