Oh cousin, you are my polar opposite
Bound by blood and circumstance
To sit with you is a requisite
As you'll never go out to dance.

You sit at home a lot, reclusive
The king of your own castle
My patience with you is exclusive
But for blood, it's worth the hassle.

The golden age of our youth
Our adventures near and far
You told me what changed you
What left your spirit marred.

It all left your heart colder
At times I don't even know you
When you gave me the cold shoulder
It was like twisting a *****.

My intentions were always good
I wanted to be there for you
A friend in need, more than blood
Though your kind words were few.

It's best we leave some distance
This friendship of ours love/hate
Until I am ready to listen again
It's best that we separate.
