I spotted him in the marketplace,
he was tugging at my pockets
while wallowing
through the *****-mire
riding a wheeled-plank.
He was missing his limbs,
wore a tattered wife-beater shirt,
sores pockmarked his face
& he only had one tooth,
but his smile was infectious,
he had a friendlier spirit than
most people with two legs.

I thank God
he reminded me
about my good fortune.
