Close your eyes, release my hands,
I'll try my best to do the same.
Whisper, "goodbye", turn your back.
Make sure that you walk away.
Take your time and I'll take mine,
and try to get a clean break.
Take small steps, walk a straight line.
Please don't watch as my shoulders shake.
Don't turn back and don't look down;
This is all just for the best.
In a hundred years or so
I know we'll understand this mess,
but for now,  just for right now,
we're in a timer-ticker zone.
This will not be a safe haven
when the timer-ticker blows.
