It
It crawled in through my ego
And prickled down my back
Muffling my senses in a symphony of black

It spoke in stolen echoes
Of a long abandoned place
Engraving Its design in every line upon my face

It sought to gain a purchase
With reason, Its disguise
A caution to be on my guard and not to trust my eyes

It locked the door behind it
Then melted down the key
And when It sat in full command, It changed Its name to Me
