I did not know how smart you were
until your voice did not fill my ears
I did not know how strong you were
until there was no one there to calm my fears
I did not know how funny you were
until the day I couldn't hear your laugh
I did not know how I blessed I was
until I wished that you'd somehow come back
I did not know how talented you were
until no one's music could set me free
and I did not know how much I loved you
until you were no longer there to hear me.
