Roots
autumnal leaves
frost brittled lattice
under their own weight
crunch
exposed nerves
toes gasp through clay
fatigue threatens clench
yet splayed arms extend
heartwood congeals
coercing ebullience to Earth
intrusting tendril
beneath edged billows
scalping innate patina
