Have you ever thought
That maybe
The stars don’t really shine for you?
That you are a single person
In an insignificant town
With people who don’t care
About you at all
And we have no actual power
Over what happens in our lives
These are terrible thoughts
Because we
As people
We need to feel important
Powerful
And in control
Like we can make a difference
But when you’re laying in bed
In the middle of the night
You kind of loose hope
You question your entire life
ANd realize we know none of the questions
That actually matter in life
That’s when we think
What difference does it make
What we do with our lives
If we end up dying anyways?
And when we’re gone
We end up as nothing more than a body
Decaying in the ground
And a distant memory
Soon forgotten
That’s why
When I look at the sky
I’m filled with a crippling sadness
Because the stars will shine
Weather I’m here or not
And I know
I never really mattered anyways
