Jan 2014
Moon glow kissed aluminum,
lighting my way
through the crunching
of broken ice & leaves,
my breath vapor,
a stinging breeze on my face.

Somewhere,
a lone dog barked,
carried between
the lifeless trees
on frigid air,
reminding me
of the living
& I realized
this freeze was
not the apocalypse,
just another typical
winter morn
like all the others.
