I love being your friend
Telling you jokes makes me smile
Holding you while we watch Food Network sends me to the stars
Dancing with you on Friday nights heals my soul

But I want to heal you in a different way
I want to kiss you from head to toe so you know I love you
I need to wake up next to you so you know I'll never leave
I crave the feeling of your cheeks under my palms

I want to be your hero
Rush in the door before you leave more scars
Bandage up the old
And make you forget that horrible past

But you don't want a lover
You need a friend
I want more but if it makes you unhappy
I'll wait forever
