Never Knew I Needed You

I let you down so many times but,

you always seemed to return to my side.

I pushed you away and brought a world filled,

of heartache and frustration to your life.

I was always so self-centered and conceited,

always thinking that you would be there for me.

I took your love for granted everyday,

and spent your money like it was my own.

I never thought that I would come home today,

and find a note from you saying you were gone.

Knowing that you're never coming back,

has opened up my eyes and made me see.

What a terrible person I was to you,

and that I never once thanked you for all that you did.

I know that it's much too late and I want you to know,

that I'm not asking you to come back to me.

I didn't deserve you then and I know,

that I don't deserve you now.

I always thought that I would be alright,

and now that I'm on my own I feel the pain.

I never told you how much I loved you,

or how much I appreciated you.

I was always too proud to and now that I'm looking back,

I never knew until now how much I need you here.
