'Ring, ring' goes the phone,
The chatter speaks and speaks.
In this empty home.
Words, on and on repeat.

I could wish, I wish I could.

This is all I’ve known,
On the edge of my seat.
Been here all alone,
Been bearing all this heat.

Doing what I ought, I should.
