I started as a seed floating on the wind. I fell from a tree and sailed until I touched the ground. I felt the cool earth and the warm sun. Then the rain came and I burst open. My roots pushed down and my sprout pushed up. I stretched towards the sky and into the cool deep soil. Spreading outward and downward, I embraced the life I was given. Despite the fact that I was cut back once or twice, I continued to grow. Then one day birds were able to rest in my branches and people were able to sit under my shade. I then put forth blossoms of my own. I produced seeds that flew into the wind. I know not where they went. As time passed, I saw new life growing not far from where I sit. New saplings reaching out in both directions. Perhaps one day our limbs will touch or our roots will cross over each other. Then we can tell of our journey. How each struggled and came to be, how each of us became a tree.
Nature is a remarkable thing. One tree can produce seed and beget others and eventually they will form a forest. If only humanity could learn a thing or two from nature.
