Won't you please look at me
Why do your eyes shy away?
Are you afraid of what you'll see?
Or worried about what I'll say?

I wish you'd give me a chance
Show me a sliver of reality
Just a smile, a fleeting glance
Is this true love or infidelity?

I can spend hours waiting
Conversing with my hopeful self
All the while cremating
My lonely reality in this delph

Your silence is a symphony
Your silhouette leads me on
Your eyes, an epiphany
Lingering long after you're gone

We both wore black that night
Mine, a mourning wrapped in thread
But yours— burning me bright
Like sunlight to the undead

How blessed must he be
Who gets to hold you close
Yet how blind as he can never see
The way you inspire my prose

When we do finally meet
In your aura I get so high
But you sweep out my feet
With an impatient Ok Bye

If goodbye is all I’ll get
Let it linger, let it last
Let it burn like a cigarette
So I can love you in the past
