My father lives not far away
Our memories leave non but dismay
He never wiped away my tears
His presence caused unfounded fears

No love recalled
No bonds that tie
No truth no trust
His masks a lie

His inner core
So fraught unstable
To love his child
Rendered unable

With much regret
These words I write
As another day
Turns into night

He does not know this child he bore
As other things to him meant more
No bitterness felt
Nor malice from me

Only sadness he shunned
His responsibility
