Roots of Depression
Autumn leaves exposed nerves
and frost brittled bones.
Toes gasp through clay.
Fatigue threatens grip,
yet flayed arms extend.
Fingers fall from reach.
Sapwoods freeze like blood
beneath blizzard winds.
