Heavy tears slip
past throbbing cheeks,
as temples splinter,
bone collapsing
under the weight
of broken screams,
a silent prayer
rising from the bellyโ€™s pit.

Bruised knees bow
beneath the crush
of dreams unlived,
and nightmares
too often
relived.
